Fundraising from 09/09/09 to 10/10/10
Back in 2009, Jenny announced she was going to spend the next year raising money for charity, and now those 12 months have flown by.
Over the past year our fundraising activities have been well supported. The efforts of all those involved was much appreciated.
£2492 was raised in total for Marie Cure Cancer Research. This went towards the £250,000 target, supporting the services of the 27 Marie Curie nurses who work in the Cornwall area.
£342 was raised for the St. Dominick Church’s Automatic Winding Clock Fund. The automatic winding mechanism should keep the clock operating without the need to scale the church tower.
£350 was raised for the St. Dominick Church’s Heating Fund. This will help to replace the boiler and install new radiators. It is hoped this will help maintain the structure of the building and make it more comfortable for services and all the other events which take place in the Church, including those with the Village School.
A voucher for an approximate value of £300 was successfully auctioned as part of Pirate FM’s Precious Lives Appeal Charity Auction. The voucher entitled the winner a five course meal prepared by us. Pirate FM is the official radio partner for The Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal and the total raised by the appeal so far is £3.5 million.
Thank you to all the volunteers and people who attended the various events throughout the year. A special thanks to the organizations that provided the venues, cuisine ingredients, assistance etc.
